Architecture film "left_behind"

3D architecture visualization

Concept

Architectural tours are one of the most widespread uses of 3D animation. Being able to see virtual architecture before it is built is becoming increasingly popular - and realism is becoming ever more important.

However, being able to combine the concept of the architectural visit with artistic elements is an opportunity that you rarely get. We took this as an opportunity to produce this film: An architectural visit with a twist.

Objective

We created an animated film that begins as you would expect from architectural presentations: various tracking shots through an attractive apartment. Here, too, we took advantage of the freedom offered by the fact that it wasn't a client project:

Instead of presenting all objects as clean and tidy as possible, which is usually desired for customer projects, we took the liberty of making some objects appear a little more worn and therefore more detailed.

After about two thirds, however, something changes in the movie.

Fade to black, the music turns up - devastation.

We see the movie as an art project. Even if the visuals have become a little outdated over the last 5 years, we are still very happy with the dynamics of the film.

Approach

Because we were able to work without any guidelines, we produced the movie the way movies are created. We wrote a script, scribbled a storyboard and used it as a basis to create the objects, draw detailed textures, create elaborate lighting and finally develop an appealing style.
